SINGAPORE – This month, athletes from around the world face their moment of truth as the Summer Olympics kick off in Paris. Investors, too, must soon confront defining moments that require disciplined preparation after a first half full of investment milestones.

Indeed, the last six months have seen the S&P 500 sail past 5,000 for the first time ever in a 14 per cent first-half finish. Equity markets in Europe and Asia claimed their own personal records too.
