SINGAPORE – Investing in assets that generate passive returns has allowed veteran banker Derrick Tan to make his money work for him despite having little time to manage his portfolio.

Mr Tan, 51, mostly holds bonds from big banks, and invests directly in private businesses and alternative assets.
