One of the more curious aspects of human behaviour is that we will readily put all our time and effort into completing a work-related project, but delay or even avoid drawing up – and sticking to – a household budget.

The reason is not hard to find: Many of us work hard to excel in our jobs and attract a high income, but we are pretty hopeless when it comes to managing our own finances.
