Henry Chu appointed as BreadTalk CEO from July 1

SINGAPORE - Mainboard-listed BreadTalk Group has appointed Mr Henry Chu as the group's chief executive officer with effect from July 1, 2017.

In an announcement on SGX on Tuesday, BreadTalk said Mr Chu will succeed Mr Oh Eng Lock who is stepping down on June 30, 2017, in line with the Group's leadership renewal process.

"I am pleased to welcome Henry back on board. He is a proven leader who has demonstrated exemplary management capabilities and a track record of accomplishments throughout his career," chairman of BreadTalk Group Dr George Quek said.

Mr Chu had rejoined BreadTalk as managing director on October 17, 2016 having served previously as CEO of its bakery division between 2010 and 2012. He oversees BreadTalk's global Food and Beverage (F&B) operations, comprising the core businesses of bakery, food atrium, and restaurants. In addition, Henry leads all F&B-related investments.

He has vast experience in the regional F&B and retail space, spanning more than 20 years across renowned brands in different geographical regions.

Between May 2012 and September 2016, Mr Chu was general manager with Japanese Chain Restaurant Division, China with Maxim's Caterers.

Earlier in his career, he held key positions including director of operations with Delifrance Singapore, operations director with Starbucks Thailand, Starbucks China and general manager of retail sales & operations with Shell Eastern Petroleum.
