Tharman to address Indian government leaders in Delhi on Friday

SINGAPORE - Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam is visiting Delhi on Friday (Aug 26) to address top policy-makers on "Fulfilling India's Potential in the Global Economy".

Mr Tharman has been invited to deliver the inaugural lecture in a series of "NITI Lectures on Transforming India", to be launched on Friday by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The inaugural lecture will be attended by Mr Modi and his Cabinet, senior government officials and state Chief Ministers.

During his visit, Mr Tharman will also call on Mr Modi and meet with Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and other government leaders.

On Saturday, Mr Tharman will officiate at the inauguration of Ascendas-Singbridge's (ASB) international tech park in Gurgaon, Haryana. The US$400 million project is ASB's first major investment in north India.

Mr Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Finance.
