SINGAPORE - Embattled cord-blood bank Cordlife’s group director for quality and operations, Ms Tan Huiying, has resigned from the company effective Nov 4.

In an announcement on Sept 9, Cordlife said Ms Tan, 42, was leaving to pursue her “personal interests” and that her resignation had been accepted by the company’s board of directors.

Appointed to her current role in July 2016, Ms Tan is responsible for the group’s operations, information systems and technology and business development activities. She is also responsible for ensuring that the group’s quality standards in service and product offerings are maintained according to applicable standards.

Her departure comes about two weeks after the Health Ministry said Cordlife will be allowed to resume cord-blood banking services “in a controlled manner” from Sept 15.

Ms Tan joined the company as a business development and technical executive in June 2006. Prior to her current position, she served as business unit director for the diagnostics team from January 2014 to June 2016. In that position, her role involved developing and implementing growth and product strategies for the group’s diagnostics business to meet financial and non-financial goals.
