Soup Restaurant declares special 0.25 cent dividend for 25th anniversary

SINGAPORE - Soup Restaurant Group on Thursday declared a special dividend of 0.25 cent per share as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.

The dividend will be paid out on Dec 15.

"Soup Restaurant has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a niche restaurant in a Chinatown shophouse to become one of the leading Chinese restaurants in Singapore focusing on traditional home-style Chinatown Heritage Cuisine. We are pleased to reward our shareholders with this special dividend to thank them for their support over the years," said Mr Wong Wei Teck, co-founder and managing director of Soup Restaurant.

Mainboard-listed Soup Restaurant operates a portfolio of food and beverage brands including Soup Restaurant, Potluck, and Cafe O. The group has 20 restaurant outlets in Singapore and Malaysia, as well as a franchised outlet in Indonesia selling its signature dishes.

The group recently opened four new outlets in Raffles Hotel, Holland Village and Compass One this year. It will be opening its newest "Teahouse" concept restaurant in Changi Airport in the fourth quarter.

Separately, Soup Restaurant reported a net profit of $67,000 for the third quarter ended Sept 30, a 272.2 per cent surge over the $18,000 in the same period a year ago. This was even as revenue slid 11 per cent to $9 million.
