SINGAPORE - Singapore shares opened higher on Thursday (Oct 20), with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 2,854.3 in early trade, up 0.34 per cent, or 9.68 points.

Around 85.5 million shares exchanged hands.

Gainers beat losers 89 to 25.
