Restructuring of Daimler hailed as 'liberation' for firm
It splits car segment from trucks and buses in bid to be lean, more flexible amid challenges

German premium carmaker Daimler, often criticised in the past for adapting too slowly to new challenges, has changed to a higher gear in its aim to become a lean and more flexible company.
Last week, it announced a separation of the car segment from its truck and bus business, in news which sent Daimler AG shares up by 10 per cent.
