SINGAPORE - Fears about inflation and interest rate hikes have weighed heavily on the market in the new year, sending key global indexes sliding in the first week of trading.
Adding to this is the rapid spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 around the world. This variant is said to have three times the transmissibility of the Delta variant, thus raising the spectre of large swathes of the global population being infected.
