This week will be crucial as the June FOMC meeting will throw up a new dot plot showing where policy makers see the Fed funds rate headed and how many rate cuts they see now.

SINGAPORE - Markets have become hyper-sensitive to US economic data and each data point can affect rate cut expectations, materially causing significant volatility here as well.

June 7’s release of surprisingly strong May jobs data has further underscored the belief that the US Federal Reserve will wait at least until September to cut its key rates. This is despite US data which came in below expectations earlier last week indicating that the United States economy is slowing.
