SINGAPORE - This is probably going to be one of the most consequential weeks of the year for financial markets as governors of the US Federal Reserve gather to decide on their next move on the Fed funds rate.
At their May 2-3 Federal Open Market Committee meeting, Fed chairman Jerome Powell and his fellow governors will have to consider a myriad of conflicting data points, which include a stubbornly tight labour market, full employment, a looming recession, falling corporate earnings and plateauing prices.
