Shannon is The Straits Times’ Malaysia bureau chief. He cut his teeth in print, web and wire agency journalism before joining The Straits Times in 2014, after more than a decade of covering pop culture, politics, money, motoring, travel, tech and more. He took a one-year break from reporting Malaysian news in 2009, after winning a Chevening scholarship to complete his postgraduate studies focusing on political communication, at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
