SINGAPORE – Foreign policy usually does not feature significantly in the race for the White House. It is just not a swing issue nor a deal-breaker for voters.

But for observers here in Asia closely watching Vice-President Kamala Harris’

first and perhaps only debate

with former president Donald Trump for hints of how she might steer US foreign policy or at least manage specific flashpoints, any sign would have helped peel back the curtain.
