- India has decided to fence its border with Myanmar and is considering terminating a bilateral agreement with its eastern neighbour that allows people living on either side of the frontier to move freely across it.

The decision has prompted vocal opposition from many communities in north-east India that have relied on this liberal arrangement to sustain deep cross-border links.
