NEW DELHI – Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who was elected to the Upper House on Feb 20, entered politics nearly three decades ago to protect the political legacy of her family, which is deeply intertwined with the fortunes of the party.
The Gandhi-Nehru family has given India three prime ministers – Mr Jawaharlal Nehru, Mrs Indira Gandhi and Mr Rajiv Gandhi.
