NEW DELHI/KOLKATA – In less than 24 hours after the first tranche of Hamas’ rockets began landing in Israel last Saturday, the conflict cast its shadow on domestic politics in India.

On the day of the attack, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted its rival Congress party on X, formerly Twitter, in an attempt to capitalise on this renewed conflagration in West Asia for domestic political gain.
