KATHMANDU – Damu Sherpa believed that her husband was dead.
Dawa Sherpa, 57, a guide helping climbers summit Mount Everest, had been missing on the world’s tallest peak since May 29, when he was descending with the last group to climb the mountain for the season. On June 3, her husband’s employer told her that he was dead, and that she and her daughter could start mourning rituals.
