KINABATANGAN – Mr Khairy Jamaluddin should remain committed to Umno if he decides to return and not leave again, said Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Bung Moktar Radin.

He added that he learnt from the media that Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had offered the former Umno Youth chief an opportunity to rejoin the party.

“So if this is what the party president wants, I do not think we have an issue because Umno is open.

“But what I want to advise is this: If you come in, stay in. Do not come in and then leave again,” he said after a Felcra interim profit distribution presentation event on Nov 1.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said decisions involving former members returning to the party are guided by party rules and left to the president’s discretion.

“Some leave, some want to come back. Those who leave have their reasons, and those who want to return also have reasons. There are rules and processes.

“We know the president is not vindictive and he prioritises the party. So we leave it to his wisdom. I do not know how genuine this intention is or the method and process, but there is a way to do it,” he added.

Earlier, it was reported that the former Rembau MP informed Mr Zahid of his intention to rejoin Umno.

However, neither Mr Khairy nor Mr Zahid has publicly confirmed the matter, and no formal application has been submitted, according to party sources. THE STAR/ ASIA NEWS NETWORK
