BANGKOK – A Bangkok-bound train derailed in the Kui Buri district of Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan province, injuring several passengers. Rescue teams are providing urgent assistance.
The derailment occurred at about 5am on Aug 9, near Kui Buri railway station.
Three carriages came off the tracks, causing panic and confusion among passengers.
Upon receiving the report, rescue teams and agencies rushed to the scene to assist the injured.
Initial checks confirmed several injuries, though the exact number has yet to be determined. Officials have so far been able to access only one of the carriages, with efforts ongoing to reach the other two, where more passengers may be trapped.
The cause of the derailment has not yet been determined, pending a detailed investigation by specialists at the site.
The State Railway of Thailand has provided an update, stating that rescue teams are assisting injured passengers and transporting them to hospital.
Passengers are being transferred by road, while the carriages that did not derail have been reassembled to continue the journey to the terminal station.
