A man was driving a tipper truck on a Johor road with its carriage raised when it snagged an overhead electric cable and toppled three electric poles.
The June 10 incident took place at 3.20pm along a road near a school in the bustling Gelang Patah town.
An 11-second video of the incident went viral on social media.
Iskandar Puteri district police chief M. Kumarasan said the 69-year-old driver had unloaded a soil consignment nearby, but forgot to lower the truck’s rear bed.
“The truck hit an electric cable along Jalan Johor Bahru-Gelang Patah-Pendas, causing three nearby concrete lamp posts to collapse,” the assistant commissioner said in a statement on June 11.
Luckily, the road was not busy, and no injuries were reported.
Asst Comm Kumarasan said the driver lodged a police report after the incident.
He tested negative for drugs after a urine test, the police added.
The man is being investigated for careless driving.
