PETALING JAYA - The 14-year-old male student suspect in a fatal stabbing incident was found to have admired the female student victim, said the police on Oct 15 in relation to the tragic death in a school in Petaling Jaya.

The suspect had harboured feelings for the 16-year-old girl, although the two were in different levels and classes.

“Investigations so far found that the suspect had feelings for the victim but never expressed them.

“He kept them to himself. The victim was also unaware of the suspect’s feelings

“So far, investigations found that they did not have any prior relationship or interaction before the fatal incident,” Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar told reporters at the state police headquarters on Oct 15.

The police also confirmed the discovery of a handwritten note believed to be a message left by the teenage suspect.

The note, which has been circulating on social media, allegedly contained various writings, including one that reads, “This world is fake. I have already won.”

Datuk Shazeli said the note was found on the suspect during the arrest, and that the police was investigating its contents.

Emotional impulses and social media have been identified as factors that led the suspect’s behaviour, the police chief said.

He added that the weapons used in the attack were purchased by the suspect online.

A knife and kerambit was acquired by the suspect and was in his possession for quite some time, said Mr Shazeli.

He said post-mortem on the victim was completed at about midnight.

“The cause of death is multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest. We can only confirm the exact number of stab wounds once the official report is issued by the pathologist,” he said.

The suspect has been brought to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters to assist with the ongoing investigations into murder, he said.

The statements of 57 individuals, including students, teachers and family members of the suspect and victim have been taken by the police as part of investigations.

The Magistrates’ Court in Petaling Jaya, Selangor remanded the male student on Oct 15 for seven days.

He will be remanded until Oct 21 to assist with investigations under suspicion of murder.
