NUANU, Bali – In May, an unofficial “New Moscow” listing on Google Maps in the beach area of Canggu, in south Bali, sparked outrage, with some proclaiming that “Bali has been colonised by Russia”.
Other netizens claimed that other parts of Bali, like the central forested area of Ubud, had also been overrun by Russians, who netizens say are trying to “annex” Indonesia’s most famous travel destination.
