SINGAPORE – The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) is appealing for funds to support disaster response in the Philippines and is contributing $50,000 towards relief efforts in Vietnam.

Both countries had been affected by the three consecutive typhoons, Ragasa, Bualoi and Matmo, with the Philippines also recently hit by earthquakes in Cebu and Davao.

In a statement on Oct 16, the SRC said it is appealing for funds to support relief and recovery efforts by its local partners in the Philippines, including the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

Those who wish to donate can do so through:

  • Credit card: Through the

    Giving.sg platform;

  • PayNow: To SRC’s UEN S86CC0370EGEN. Include “Philippines Disaster” under the bill reference;

  • In person: At Red Cross House in Penang Lane during weekdays, 9am to 6pm.

The appeal period is open from Oct 15 to Dec 31, 2025. Corporate and individual donors can claim 100 per cent tax deduction for their donations.

SRC said it had earlier

contributed

$50,000

on Oct 3 to support the PRC’s efforts, adding that it also deployed 30 units of pre-positioned water filters for affected Cebu communities.

The SRC also said it is contributing $50,000 to support the Vietnam Red Cross in its relief efforts for the flood-hit country.

The efforts include the provision of shelter, clean drinking water, first aid and psychosocial support, as well as necessities like food rations, blankets and tarpaulins, the SRC said.

Late on Sept 30, a

6.9-

magnitude earthquake

tore through northern Cebu in central Philippines, killing 72, injuring nearly 300 people and affecting more than 170,000. On Oct 10, two quakes struck off the southern Philippines,

killing at least seven people

.

Three typhoons hit Vietnam between Sept 22 and Oct 3, severely affecting the northern and central parts of the country. Heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides followed the typhoons, destroying homes and crops and submerging hundreds of thousands of homes.

SRC chief executive and secretary-general Benjamin William described the situation in the Philippines and Vietnam as dire.

“As our hearts go out to those impacted by the disasters, we hope that the people of Singapore will join us in solidarity and support our ongoing response in both countries,” he said.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and stand ready to work alongside our partners for the recovery of the affected communities.”
