KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The second part of a video expose over Sarawak Report's articles on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been made available to The Star.
The non-government organisation (NGO) Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin Malaysia's Ramesh Rao Krishnan Naidu, who has claimed responsibility for the video, said he would release another two parts to the revelations in due time.
In the latest six-minute video, former editor Lester Melanyi claims to have met Swiss national Xavier Andre Justo who is currently being investigated by Thai police over blackmail allegations.
Lester had alleged in a previous video that opposition leaders had conspired with the whistleblower website on the 1MDB issue. Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle-Brown has said Lester had only worked for Radio Free Sarawak and not for the Sarawak Report itself .
In the new video, Lester said he met Justo in London "two or three times" in 2012 and 2013, and believes that the former PetroSaudi executive did not tamper with any of the documents he had allegedly stolen from his old company.
However, he claimed that Justo had met with, and gave Rewcastle-Brown only 10 per cent of the documents he had.
"Another 90 per cent are all created by Malaysian people, the Opposition people. He did not tamper it. The web designer in London is very good in doing it. If you ask him to create money, he can create money for you and it may look genuine," said Lester.
He claimed that the designer had fabricated documents as part of the Sarawak Report's mission to criminalise Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Recounting his meet with Justo, Lester said he was a "pleasant guy" and that he did not believe the Swiss national was a criminal. He added also that he did not believe that Rewcastle-Brown paid Justo any money to leak information to her.
He claimed that Justo and the Sarawak Report chief were introduced by a Bruno Manser Fund (BMF) director to apparently "create stories" and make them look "juicy".
"He flew from Switzerland to London to see whether what Clare can do with these things kind of stories about Malaysia to attack Najib (sic)," Lester said.
Sarawak Report has yet to respond to the latest revelations.
