Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, his wife Mrs Lee and Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam visited the Istana Besar in Johor Bahru on Wednesday (Jun 6) to pay their last respects to the mother of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, said Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

Yang Amat Mulia Enche' Besar Hajah Khalsom Abdullah died at King Edward VII's Hospital in London on June 1. She was 83.

Her remains arrived at Senai International Airport in Johor on Tuesday night, on a private plane owned by Sultan Ibrahim.

The Johor Royal Court Council president Abdul Rahim Ramli said she would be laid to rest at the Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum in Bukit Mahmoodiah.

Born Josephine Ruby Trevorrow, she was married to Sultan Iskandar in 1956. She adopted the Muslim name Khalsom Abdullah after her marriage.

They had four children, including Sultan Ibrahim. Her three daughters are Tunku Kamariah Aminah, Tunku Besar Zabedah and Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, who is the wife of Pahang's Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

The state flag is being flown at half-mast to mark her passing.
