KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Avid runner Evelyn Ang was given a fitting tribute when hundreds of people wore running attire to accompany her "final run" before she was cremated at the DBKL crematorium in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday (March 4).
Family, friends and well-wishers walked and jogged from the Xiao En Memorial Centre to the crematorium, which was about 300m away.
Many wore bibs with the wording "Run Evie, Run" and "Laugh-Love-Run" as a tribute to Ang who had encouraged people with her tenacity and drive.
Throughout the walk, they also chanted "Run Evie, Run".
Ang, who would have turned 45 in April, was knocked down by a hit-and-run motorist during the Klang City International Marathon last December.
She suffered a cranial fracture and bleeding in the brain and never regained consciousness from a coma.
Two other runners were also injured in the incident.
Teoh Thiam Lim, 28, was charged in the Klang's magistrate court on Feb 20 with reckless and dangerous driving at Batu 2, Jalan Kapar at about 4.30am on Dec 10.
The mechanic pleaded not guilty before magistrate Roslizi Sulaiman.
Teoh, who was unrepresented, was granted RM5,500 (S$1,860) bail in one surety.
The court set March 9 for mention.
