JAKARTA - The North Sumatra wing of the terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) has officially demobilised, more than a year after the group’s national leaders disbanded the organisation and pledged loyalty to the national government.
In an event organised by the National Police’s Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) in Medan on Aug 30, former local leaders and members of the group reaffirmed their commitment to the state and its laws and pledged to work towards national development.
