JAKARTA - Indonesia will be counting the costs of the devastation of last Friday's (Sept 28) deadly earthquake and tsunami for some time.

The 7.4-magnitude quake that struck at the heart of Sulawesi island also triggered waves up to 7m high, claiming more than 1,400 lives and wiping out swathes of the Central Sulawesi countryside and much of the provincial capital Palu.
