JOHOR BAHRU A 53-year-old motorcyclist died on the spot after ramming into a buffalo while on his way to cross the border into Singapore for work.

Seri Alam police officer Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the victim was heading towards Singapore when the incident took place in Jalan Sungai Tiram in Johor Bahru at around 3.40am on June 25.

“He was riding from Tebrau towards Singapore when he hit the animal, which was walking along the motorcycle lane,” Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi said in a statement on June 26.

“The man was severely injured and died on the spot.”

His body was taken to Hospital Sultan Ismail in Johor Bahru for a post-mortem examination, Supt Mohd Sohaimi added.

A video clip of the incident recorded by a car dashboard camera was shared on social media.

It showed the victim crashing into the animal along a dark road, resulting in his motorcycle being smashed into pieces. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
