He said 82 places were raided, including homes, clinics, business premises and houses tied to GISB, an Islamic company that is suspected to have run care homes where caretakers subjected hundreds of children to abuse and exploitation.
On Sept 11, police rescued 402 children
“All those detained are being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act and Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act,” he said in a statement.
He said the police also seized various items, including books that have elements of deviant teachings.
“A total of 186 victims consisting of 102 men and 84 women, including a boy who was being punished by a man believed to be a GISB member (seen in a viral video), were also rescued in the operation,” he said.
Tan Sri Razarudin said 2,528 policemen as well as 1,273 personnel from other agencies were involved in the operations.
“We also discovered various empty premises where we believe GISB members had fled from.
We urge those who have been victimised or have information on the case to come forward as soon as possible,” he added.
Earlier on Sept 21, Mr Razarudin said a total of 200 suspects had been detained
