MELAKA - A popular YouTuber has been summoned by Melaka police to assist in an investigation after a video allegedly showing him riding a modified micromobility vehicle went viral on social media.

Melaka Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, said the 27-year-old content creator was called in for questioning after the authorities came across a 22-second video uploaded to TikTok at around 11.50am on May 5.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the micromobility vehicle had been modified and fitted with a roof,” he said in a statement on May 6.

The vehicle, typically designed for short-distance urban transport and often including devices like e-scooters or small electric bikes, was seen being ridden by a man with two male pillion riders near the Lee Rubber traffic lights along the Alor Gajah–Melaka Tengah–Jasin (AMJ) Highway in Melaka, the deputy commissioner said.

DCP Dzulkhairi added that officers conducted checks on the vehicle bearing a registration number registered under the YouTuber’s name. The vehicle is believed to have been used to film the footage in question.

Police have since contacted the YouTuber, whose identity was not revealed. The YouTuber informed them that he is currently in Sabah on business and is expected to return by May 16.

“He has confirmed that he will cooperate and has agreed to present himself along with his lawyer at the Highway Patrol Enforcement Division of the Melaka Tengah district police headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department on May 17,” DCP Dzulkhairi said.

“He (YouTuber) has confirmed that he will cooperate by attending with his lawyer on May 17,” he added. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
