Man remanded over murder of wife, daughter in Penang

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Penang – The husband of a woman and her daughter found murdered in the town of Juru, in Penang, has been remanded for seven days to assist police investigations.
The remand order against the 57-year-old man was issued by Magistrate Roshayati Radellah at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court on Oct 19.
It was learnt that the suspect is a factory security guard.
Police have yet to confirm whether he is the main suspect or the motive behind the murders.
On Oct 18, a mother and daughter were found brutally killed at their rented home.
The 51-year-old woman’s body was discovered in the ground floor kitchen with her head nearly severed.
Her 11-year-old daughter was found face down and covered in blood upstairs in the partially wooden house.
It was earlier reported that their bodies were discovered by the husband, who returned home at about 7.30pm.
