A 37-year-old police officer, better known as “Inspector Sheila” in Malaysia, was charged in a Kuala Lumpur court on Nov 12, Malaysian media reported.

Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar was brought before Magistrate Aina Azahra Arifin and charged with voluntarily obstructing policeman Lance Corporal Malvinderjit Singh Teerath Singh, 37, from carrying out his patrol duty.

According to The Malay Mail, she was seen berating the officer outside a restaurant in Dang Wangi in Kuala Lumpur around 8.15pm on Nov 4.

A video of the incident, which she uploaded on social media, went viral after she alleged that officers had intimidated a Pakistani motorcyclist.

Bernama reported that she pleaded not guilty to the charge, which carries a maximum prison sentence of two years or a fine of up to RM10,000 (S$3,150) or both, if convicted.

The magistrate set bail at RM6,600 with one surety, with the case scheduled for mention on Jan 20, 2026.

The inspector has been suspended from duty since June 2023 for allegedly insulting another police officer and threatening an elderly woman.
