Woman rams car into five vehicles in JB after mistaking accelerator for brake pedal

JOHOR BAHRU – A woman accidentally rammed her car into five vehicles after mistaking the accelerator for the brake pedal.

Johor Bahru South officer in charge of a police district assistant commander Raub Selamat said the incident was believed to have happened on Oct 16 when the 49-year-old insurance agent was heading from Jalan Pingai towards Jalan Kuning in Taman Pelangi.

“The incident occurred when the driver mistakenly stepped on the accelerator as she approached the junction.

“This caused her vehicle to swerve and crash into five other cars parked along the roadside near shop lots. However, no injuries were reported,” he said.

Mr Raub added that a breathalyser test on the driver came back negative for alcohol.

“We urge all road users to drive carefully,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated.

Earlier, photos and videos of the incident made the rounds on social media.

In one of the videos, a blue Mini Cooper can be seen on top of another car, while several other vehicles appear badly damaged, including one with its roof completely torn off. THE STAR/ ASIA NEWS NETWORK
