KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament and netizens took to Twitter on Thursday to wish Prime Minister Najib Razak a happy 62nd birthday.
Mr Najib was born on July 23, 1953, in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, Bernama news agency reported.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek tweeted in the morning: "Happy Birthday Datuk Seri Najib! Hope patience and sincerity be the strength in discharging your duties and responsibilities".
"Happy Birthday PM. May Allah bless you with strength and great wisdom to lead the nation," tweeted Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri.
Defence Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein wrote "Happy Birthday PM '@FriendsofBN1:'Nobody can split the unity among the races in Msia".
The Prime Minister's Office posted a picture of its staff in Putrajaya posing with Mr Najib and two cakes.
The birthday wishes come at a time when Mr Najib is facing scrutiny after the Wall Street Journal alleged that US$700 million (S$960 million) from state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) was transferred into his personal bank accounts.
The prime minister has denied taking 1MDB funds for personal gain, but he has not directly addressed the allegations of the fund transfers into his accounts.
