Malaysian female doctor traumatised after being 'molested' by patient

MELAKA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A 26-year-old female doctor suffered from post-traumatic stress following an incident of sexual abuse at Melaka Hospital.

Melaka Health Department director Datuk Dr Ghazali Othman said senior doctors offered consultation to the doctor following her traumatic experience after allegedly being molested by a 37-year-old patient during a medical screening.

"The doctor was reported to be fine following the series of consultation by Melaka Hospital officials," he said.

Dr Ghazali said the patient was believed to be a drug addict and had apparently molested the doctor during a health screening at the emergency and trauma department of the hospital on Sept 3.

Melaka Health, Sport Development and Anti-Drugs Committee deputy chairman Datuk Ng Choon Koon said there is a standard operating procedure for female doctors to have a nurse beside when conducting checks on male patients.
