Korean artist eyeing world record with longest drawing of Penang

GEORGE TOWN (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWOR) - South Korean artist Kim Jung Gi has completed his 8m-long piece depicting Penang's various attractions at the Odeon - The Heritage Asylum.

He is seeking a new Guinness World Record for the longest drawing by an individual for Fish Eye Art Illustration through his piece.

Kim, who had been drawing for four hours each day since June 2, said he felt relieved that everything went smoothly.

"When I started my career, I never imagined such an opportunity and challenge would present itself.

"I'm confident of achieving the record," he said through an interpreter here on Sunday.

Documentation as well as video and photographic evidence will be submitted over the next fortnight.

Official certification is expected within several months.

Kim later joined Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and other dignitaries on a tour of Odeon, a new interactive space on the site of a former cinema.
