The usually bustling Masjid Jamek Sri Petaling in south Kuala Lumpur that used to be open 24 hours a day was eerily quiet yesterday afternoon, with congregants speaking in hushed tones about recent events that have put the mosque in the spotlight.
The large mosque complex has been closed to the public since March 12 for disinfecting work after government data showed that a mass gathering of some 16,000 people there a fortnight ago led to a huge cluster of coronavirus cases.
