SHAH ALAM – The six suspects who

kidnapped a 12-year-old girl in Klang

had tried to sell her off to a prostitution ring, said the Malaysian police.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the deal fell through after the perpetrators found out that the police had released information on the girl’s disappearance to the public.

“The leader of the group had attempted to sell her off to the ring in the Chow Kit area. However, the girl was sent back to the suspects (when the deal failed).

“It is likely that all the suspects will have their remands extended,” he said after an evidence disposal ceremony at the police contingent headquarters in Shah Alam on Oct 17.

He said two more suspects were still being tracked down.

The girl was reported missing after going to a car to pick up food below her residence at a flat on Oct 8.

The police believed she had later got into a car with the suspects after she recognised one of the women in the vehicle.

“She knew one of them as the ex-girlfriend of her brother,” Datuk Hussein said.

On Oct 12, the Selangor police arrested the suspects, including two women, following raids in Segambut Dalam, Setia Alam and Pandamaran. The victim was found safe that same day. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
