JAKARTA - The hype leading up to last night's inaugural presidential debate for Indonesia's upcoming elections was high, and the candidates mostly did not disappoint as they squared off on live television for more than two hours.
The incumbent, President Joko Widodo, and the man seeking to take his place, Prabowo Subianto, seemed well prepared, but more importantly authentic, as they engaged in a competition of ideas.
