Jetstar plane makes emergency landing in Chiang Mai after smoke seen rising from luggage area

BANGKOK - A Jetstar Airways plane with more than 180 people on board was forced to make an emergency landing at Chiang Mai International Airport on Monday (Oct 2) after smoke was reportedly seen rising from the aircraft's luggage compartment.

The plane landed safely with no injuries or damages reported, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand, after the airport received an emergency report about 11.30am local time.

Local media said the aircraft restarted its journey after a full inspection, reported Xinhua.

The plane was heading for India from Vietnam's Noi Bai International Airport.
