PUTRAJAYA – A video of a three-month-old baby being raped has been distributed for sale online, says Malaysia’s Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Speaking during the ministry’s monthly assembly on July 16, Datuk Seri Saifuddin said that he was briefed about the heinous act at 12.30am.
“If you are briefed at midnight, then it is a major issue,” he said.
“The baby was raped. Not only that, the act was recorded on video and later sold (online). It is absolute madness.”
Mr Saifuddin said plans are under way to strengthen the intelligence-gathering and operational capabilities of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department’s sexual, women and child investigation division.
“This is a serious matter. Action must be taken to strengthen (the division) further,” he added.
He declined to elaborate on the matter further at a press conference following the assembly.
Commenting on the recent success of the police in dismantling a terrorist group
“We will not compromise in any way when it comes to matters involving terrorism on home soil,” he said.
“We were able to act effectively, thanks to the strength of our intelligence capabilities. It shows that we are prepared to take firm action against such threats,” he said. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
