KUALA LUMPUR – The remand period for Malaysian rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known by his stage name Namewee, has been extended by three days as he maintains his innocence amid ongoing investigations into a Taiwanese influencer’s death.

The 42-year-old rapper’s lawyer Joshua Tay, who spoke to the media outside the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 10, said that his client’s remand period had been extended to Nov 13.

“As of now, what I can say is that the police have said that their investigations have not been completed,” Mr Tay said.

He said his client is healthy and remains in good spirits.

In response to a reporter’s questions, he affirmed that his client maintains his innocence in relation to Ms Hsieh’s death.

The police had reclassified her death as murder

after the

initial classification

of sudden death.

Investigations revealed that Namewee was the last person seen with the 31-year-old influencer in a room at a hotel in Malaysia at about 1.40pm on Oct 22.

He was later arrested for alleged possession and use of drugs but was released after pleading not guilty to the drug-related charges at the Jalan Duta Court on Oct 24. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
