KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian police will apply to extend the remand for rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee.
When contacted, Dang Wangi Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam confirmed the matter.
He said: “Yes, we will apply for an extension on Monday.”
The police had reclassified Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh’s case as murder after initially classifying it as a sudden death.
Wee had earlier been remanded until Nov 10 after surrendering to the police on Nov 5.
Investigations revealed that Wee was the last person seen with the 31-year-old victim in a hotel room, in Kuala Lumpur, at about 1.40pm on Oct 22.
He was later arrested for alleged possession and use of drugs but was released after pleading not guilty to the drug-related charges at the Jalan Duta Court on Oct 24. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
