Indonesia police probe fake bomb threats at three Greater Jakarta international schools

The threats warned that bombs planted at the schools would be detonated unless a ransom was paid in cryptocurrency.

Given the similarities between three bomb hoaxes in October, the police in Indonesia were looking for potential links.

JAKARTA – The authorities in Indonesia have confirmed that three international schools in Greater Jakarta were the targets of bomb hoaxes on Oct 7 and 8, as investigations are under way to identify and apprehend the individual or group responsible.

The messages were sent by e-mail from an unknown account and by WhatsApp from a phone number with the country code for Nigeria.
