Girl who staged own abduction to spend time with boyfriend to be charged in Malaysia

KLANG (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The underaged girl at the centre of a fake kidnap case is due to be charged in Klang Court with providing false information under Section 196 of the Penal Code on Wednesday (Jan 6).

Nur Amirah Atirah Abdul Majid, who was reported to have been kidnapped, was found to have staged her own abduction because she wanted to spend time with a man she met a month ago.

The girl from Bandar Sultan Suleiman in Port Klang was found with her 19-year-old boyfriend in his car in front of a petrol kiosk in Banting last Thursday after she was said to have gone missing since Sunday.

Her mother, 33-year-old Asmah Mamai, has since apologised on her Facebook page over the incident.

The police remand for the boyfriend and his 45-year-old friend has been extended for two more days until Wednesday.

"We have completed the investigation papers and submitted it to the deputy public prosecutor for further action", said North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Yusoff Mamat.

"The police have recommended that the 19-year-old main suspect be charged with abduction under Section 363 of the Penal Code, while his friend be made a witness in the case.

"We will know if they will be charged on Wednesday at the Klang court," said ACP Mohd Yusoff.
