ALOR SETAR/PETALING JAYA - Four teenagers have been arrested by the Kedah police for allegedly being involved in the gang rape of a girl and distributing pornographic material on social media.
Baling acting police chief Ahmad Salimi Mat Ali, said the police received a report from a woman on Oct 12 at about 11am after being informed by a disciplinary teacher about the circulation of a nude video clip of her daughter.
Following the report, police detained three students and a former student of the school on the same day at about 9.30pm to assist investigation.
It was learnt that the suspects were allegedly involved in sexual acts in the school between May and August.
“All suspects have been remanded for five days and their mobile phones have been confiscated,” Deputy Superintendent Ahmad added.
The Kedah State Education Department (JPN Kedah) has expelled the teenagers allegedly involved. It said immediate action was taken to assist the victim, with priority given to ensuring her well-being.
“JPN Kedah is giving its full cooperation to the ongoing investigation,” it said in a statement on Oct 16.
The department added that an internal probe was also launched, resulting in the expulsion of the offenders.
“The Education Ministry does not compromise on any form of sexual misconduct in educational institutions and is continuously working to improve all aspects to ensure the safety and well-being of the education community,” it added. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
