Former Malaysian PM Muhyiddin Yassin was charged with four counts of using his position to obtain bribes totalling RM232.5 million (S$72.6 million).

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia’s former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s corruption case involving power abuse and money laundering
High Court Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin fixed a 29-day hearing during the case mention on Nov 10.
This is the first mention before Justice Noor Ruwena as she takes over the case.
The previous judge, Justice K. Muniandy, has been elevated to the Court of Appeal.
The court will also on Nov 18 hear an application by the Bersatu president, who is seeking temporary access to his passport, with Nov 27 as the next mention date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin told the court that about 30 prosecution witnesses will be called to testify.
Muhyiddin was exempted from attending proceedings on Nov 10.
The former prime minister has been charged with four counts of using his position to obtain bribes totalling RM232.5 million (S$72.7 million) in connection with the Jana Wibawa Project from Bukhary Equity, Nepturis, Mamfor, and Datuk Azman Yusoff for Bersatu.
He allegedly committed the offences at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya between March 1, 2020, and Aug 20, 2021.
Muhyiddin also faces three charges of receiving RM200 million from illegal activities, which were deposited into Bersatu’s AmBank and CIMB Bank accounts.
The offences were allegedly committed at AmBank’s Amcorp Mall branch in Petaling Jaya on Jan 7, 2022, and at CIMB Bank’s Menara KL branch in Jalan Stesen Sentral between Feb 25 and July 16, 2021, and Feb 8 and July 8, 2022. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
