PETALING JAYA – The retail price of Grade A, B, and C eggs across the country has been reduced by three cents starting on June 17 as part of the government’s new subsidy initiative.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the new prices for Grade A, B, and C eggs will be set at 42 cents (12 cents), 40 cents, and 38 cents per egg, respectively.
He noted that the subsidy provision will cost the government around RM100 million, covering as much as 10 cents per egg.
“I want to emphasise that the problems or issues related to the cost of living of the people will continue to be dealt with by the government in a more proactive and effective manner,” he said in a statement on June 17.
Retail prices for eggs in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will be adjusted according to the respective zones and districts, according to Datuk Seri Anwar. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
